Marquise

Marquise

In 1745, the name Marquise Shape was inspired by the beautiful smile of the Marquise de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV of France as he wanted a Diamond to resemble the shape of her grin.

The distinctive long and narrow shape depicts an illusion of a much larger-looking Diamond where as the length of a Marquise allows fingers to appear more slender and enlongated. A unique shape like the Marquise require thoughts in its symmetry as the slightest variation can lead to an imbalanced and uneven overall, making it unpleasant to look at.

In recent years, this one of a kind shape was voted favourite fancy Diamond shape and today itself, the Marquise is wildly popular as it portrays the meaning of being impulsive, outgoing, sexy and passionate. It is said that those who wear Marquise Diamonds often value money and are extavagant as well as extremely goal-oriented.
